The Anne Arundel County Democratic Central Committee is the official governing body of the Democratic Party in Anne Arundel County, and is the local branch of the Maryland State Democratic Central Committee. Members of the Central Committee are elected from each state legislative district during the primary gubernatorial election. Each elected member selects an alternate member, subject to the approval of the Committee, and is traditionally of the opposite gender.

Central Committee members are strong, vocal advocates for the Democratic Party. While the Central Committee does not take a position on candidates in a contested primary election, we do promote the Party. Central Committee members must openly support the Democratic candidate in a partisan race.

Central Committee members have the official responsibility to fill vacancies of certain offices due to the death or resignation of an elected official, and fill vacancies when no Democratic candidate has filed for nomination. The Central Committee also makes recommendations to the Governor for appointments of members and substitute members to the local County Board of Elections as well as recommendations to other state and county boards.

Central Committee members act as the primary organizing unit for the Democratic Party in Anne Arundel County. We must reach out and welcome volunteers to assist in many of our activities and tasks. Fundraising, staffing events, precinct organizing, distributing literature, registering new voters, and phone banking are just some of the tasks needed to be performed in order to assure Democratic victories on Election Day. Therefore, your participation as a Democratic Party activist becomes the difference between success and failure.

Please consider volunteering some of your time or resources to the Democratic Party. The Anne Arundel County Democratic Central Committee looks forward to working with you to assure Democratic victories in this county, state, and country.
